Description
Where it is the right choice: shops, office floors, restaurants, clinics and shared spaces. Several units of the right type beat one large unit on both comfort and running cost.
Conditioning a commercial space is a different problem from a home: occupancy varies, the glazed area is large, the door keeps opening, and any loss of comfort shows up directly in how customers and staff feel. So where the air is thrown and whether it is distributed evenly matter as much as which unit you buy.
A cassette unit sits flush in the ceiling and blows in four directions, cooling a wide area evenly; a floor-standing unit delivers high capacity from a single point; a ducted unit stays completely out of sight and works without touching the architecture. The right type follows the geometry of the space, the ceiling and how intensively the space is used — we assess all three on site.
Key Features
- Cassette type: flush in the ceiling, four-way airflow, even distribution over a wide area and a clean finish
- Floor-standing type: a powerful single-point solution for open areas that need high capacity
- Ducted type: hidden behind grilles, leaves the architecture intact, air distribution can be designed
- Zone-level control in a multi-unit layout; empty areas can be turned down individually
- Central monitoring with networked thermostats; automatic switch to eco mode at the end of the working day
How to Choose
- The ceiling: with a suspended ceiling, cassette or ducted; without one, floor-standing or wall-mounted come into play.
- Occupancy: in restaurants and shops the fresh air and humidity load differ from a domestic calculation, and capacity grows accordingly.
- How many independent zones? The more zones, the more economical multiple units with central control become; past five or six spaces, VRF enters the picture.
- Operating hours: a control layer that lets you define a working-hours scenario is the fastest-returning investment on the bill.
- Maintenance access: a layout where filters are easy to clean preserves efficiency for years.
